We’ll play our way through a century of it, from a Chopin nocturne written for the candlelit salons to Edith Piaf’s “La Vie en Rose,” which she first sang on a sidewalk after the war. Django’s gypsy swing, Cole Porter’s “I Love Paris,” a musette waltz of my own, and “Under Paris Skies” in between. Each one caught something about why that city has held the world’s heart for two hundred years. There’s a French spread of charcuterie, cheeses, and chocolate, a glass in your hand, chanson from our special guest Lynn Beach Smith, and 75 seats in a candlelit bookstore that, for one night, is a Left Bank café.
