Are dogs welcome?

We love dogs! Service animals are welcome within our cafe and bookstore. Otherwise, we have a beautiful outdoor patio for our puppy pals to lounge. Water and treats available.

Are children welcome?

With so much to look at, children love exploring our bookstore. We offer a special selection of children’s books and plenty of tasty treats. Children are welcome Wednesday and Thursday until 5 pm. Friday and Sunday are reserved exclusively for adult guests, 21+.

Do you take reservations?

We do not take reservations and operate on a first come, first seated basis. We have indoor seating in our champagne bar and throughout the two story book store. When weather permits we have extensive outdoor patio seating with fire pits and blankets for those chillier nights.

Do you host private parties?

We host beautiful private parties to celebrate weddings, birthdays, holiday gatherings, anniversaries or corporate events. Our venue offers affairs for 15-125 guests with extensive food and drink options. Please e-mail Donna Wright (reservations@batteryparkbookexchange.com) to begin planning your next great party.

Are you a library?

While the Book Exchange may call to mind a well-appointed library out of Dickens novel, we operated as a used book store. Our collection include some rarities and exclusive items, but most books are priced affordably. Explore and find a treasure to take home.

Do you buy used books?

Yes. Our book buyer can look at your collection by appointment only. Please e-mail Thomas Wright (bpbookexchange@att.net) to discuss what you have. We offer cash or store credit to buy champagne, food, and of course … more books.

Do you have live music?

We have regular live music evenings, Wednesday through Saturday, and late afternoon on Sunday. Additionally, we often have parties and special events with other music offerings. We feature gypsy jazz, folk, bluegrass and more. Follow our facebook page for the latest information!

Do you have coffee?

Asheville has many fine coffee shops but we focus on fabulous tea. We offer a traditional tea service with seasonal teas and plenty of accompaniments to go along with it.
